The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced this week that beginning on Monday, motorists traveling on the parkway between the Congress Street overpass in Fairfield to the Newtown Turnpike overpass in Westport can expect nightly lane closures in both directions.
Officials said that the contractors will begin restoration work on Merritt Parkway bridges, resume milling and paving operations in the southbound lanes and will begin shoulder reconstruction and drainage improvements in the right side shoulders, which are currently behind temporary concrete barriers.
According to officials, the project “consists of the rehabilitation of five miles in each direction of Route 15 and Route 11 bridge structures in Fairfield and Westport. Due to the scope of the project, occasional daytime construction may be required, though it is not expected to impact motorists. The project is scheduled to be completed no later than Aug. 20, 2019.
